Take part in exploring the exciting world of locusts and their relatives!With the portal “OrthopteraWeb” we want to bundle as many locust finds available in Germany as possible and make them visible.
So far, more than 190,000 data records have been stored in the system and around 8,300 finds have been reported via the online entry (as of October 2021).
Based on this data, the distribution of the species can already be clearly understood.
For many species, however, there are still large gaps in coverage.
In particular, there is currently a lack of up-to-date data.We would therefore like to cordially invite you to report current finds via the Heuschrecken Deutschland app and to transfer them to OrthopteraWeb.
Because only on the basis of historical and current distribution data can possible changes in the area be traced.
This information is in turn an important basis for the creation of hazard analyzes and red lists.
We are currently using the data, for example, for the revision of the Red List of Trapping and Locusts in Germany.The Locust Germany app enables you to record precise individual finds and to bundle several species finds for one area (polygon, mountain bike, etc.) using mapping lists.
You can also display the finds that are already available in your area (beta phase).
In addition to locusts, catches can also be found with the app.The plausibility of the observations is guaranteed by authorized experts.
